Sneak Peek at a Sublime New Menu

Double IPAs and Imperial Stouts are great and all, but one of the best things about beer festivals is the people you meet.

When I was covering Green Flash Brewing Company’s 8th Anniversary Festival during last year’s San Diego Beer Week festivities, I got in a conversation about how palatable a particular ale was with a gentleman named James Limjoco, a chef and restaurateur. After jawing about food and beer for way too long, we vowed to catch up at some point and enjoy both at a later date. To my dismay, that never happened.

Several weeks ago I happened across the news that a new restaurant with a focus on craft beer was going into a vacated space in San Marcos’ Restaurant Row complex. I reached out to see about conducting an interview, and who should I hear from? None other than Limjoco.

Turns out he likes beer even more than I thought. In fact, he’s a fan of yeast’s abilities on the baking front as well. In addition to his Sublime Ale House having 50-plus taps (including some that will dispense wine), it’ll also have pizzas and artisanal breads produced on-site daily. That from-scratch ethos extends throughout the rest of the menu, which is built to be accessible, comforting, and beer-ready.

At this point, I could go into detail…or I can show you the menu, which I was able to get from Limjoco after our interview. Click here for the front page and here for the flip side. Keep in mind that it’s not final, but it’s about 90% of the way there. Sublime’s soft open is scheduled for the first week of October with the full-on grand opening taking place October 19.

Sublime Ale House is located at 1020 W. San Marcos Boulevard.
