Baja & Border News Translations: Youth Threaten with Pistol and Set Fire to Home; 61st Anniversary of Baja California Celebrated

Youth Threaten with Pistol and Set Fire to Home (El Mexicano, 1/17/13 by Said Betanzos)

TIJUANA, BC - "Run with your Mommy or I'm going to kill you," warned a minor and pointed a firearm at Daniel, another youth. This occurred after the attacker and other 13 children set fire to a dwelling in fraccionamiento Villa del Real. According to the Municipal police around 19:00 hours on Wednesday, they received a report of a fire at a house at calles Dos and España in the abovementioned place.

The mother of the youth claimed having seen some 14 children set fire to part of the wood where she lives with her 13 year old son, who managed to flee by exiting from the rear of domicile. She commented that she saw one of the children with a pistol, with which he threatened to kill her son. All the children were still there while her husband with the help of neighbors quelled the flames of their house.

After the Municipal Police heard these facts, "n" José, 13, was arrested at calles Dos and España, just outside the Nextel business. He was carrying a school bag hiding an empty firearm, a 38-caliber type revolver, as well as some tools.

The juvenile confessed that the weapon was given to him to save by "n Daniel", 13, who got it from his father, Victor Mena, in the business of making patrols. When police officers asked the parent talking he was talking with about the claim, he closed the business and refused to be interviewed any further. http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/informacion/noticias/1/22/policiaca/2013/01/17/644465/ninos-quisieron-matar-a-otro-al-incendiar-vivienda.aspx
