Baja & Border News Translations: Indigents will generate a little problem; Federal Courts evacuated; Request to keep name of Boulevard Benitez

INDIGENTS WILL GENERATE "A LITTLE PROBLEM" (Tijuana Press, 2/20/13 by Daniel Angel)

Tijuana, BC - The Director of Works and Urban Infrastructure of the Municipality (Doium) is scheduled to start work on Ruta Uno on March 25. Esteban Yee, head of the Doium, said the work will begin on the West side at the Party Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) building where a significant number of homeless people are concentrated in the Rio canal.

"The work will generate a little problem. Maybe we will get together at some point. Yet if you checked there are about one hundred indigents. We are less concerned about them but rather thefts which are also going to be important for the builder, "he added.

He recalled this is only the first phase of construction that will continue to allow traffic flow. The road will be open to Colonia El Florido, enabling pedestrian and elements of protection to cross the bridges in case of accidents.

For convenience, he said, the best thing would be to work in both directions at the same time. Although he claimed motorists traveling on the Vías Rápidas will be disturbed to a minimum, the work would last about 250 days with an approximate 180 million pesos ($14.1 million US) investment.

There have been modifications to the project he said. Trucks will circulate over the canal from Zona Centro to preparatoria Lázaro Cárdenas, and in the opposite direction from the canal to Colonia Los Alamos. The intention, he said, is that most travel is on the canal and not taking expressway lanes that generates more traffic. "Right now will not work in the Vías Rápidas lanes," he said.

Although on Monday Mayor Carlos Bustamante said the investor information for those interested in this part the project was on the Compranet portal since Friday, the 20 City Council Communication Site pointed out it will be on line this Thursday. http://www.tijuanapress.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8990:indigentes-seran-qun-problemitaq-doium&catid=1:locales&Itemid=50
