Baja & Border News Translations: No Water on Wednesday; Port Entry Affects Tourist Directions

No Water on Wednesday (Tijuana Press, 11/5/12 by Nora Leticia Garcia)

Tijuana, BC – The population is reminded that on Wednesday, November 6 from 6 a.m., the water supply will be suspended for 12 hours in Tijuana and Rosarito beach. As announced last week, the State Commission of public services of Tijuana CESPT, said the suspension would be for the maintenance of doors located under the water level on the Carrizo dam.

It should be remembered that the director of the parastatal, Hernando Duran Cabrera, reported that when they conclude the work on the dam, service would be restored to 90% of the area. He said, however, that in the higher areas of the city in Santa Fe, the Obere Parte Alta and Playas de Rosarito, the suspension could last up until Thursday, November 8. http://www.tijuanapress.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8063:recordatorio-por-corte-de-agua&catid=1:locales&Itemid=50

Port Entry Affects Tourist Directions (Tijuana Press, 11/5/12 by Daniel Angel)

Tijuana, BC - The director of commercial building and Tourism believes that as long as the new Point of Entry at "El Chaparral" is not completed, long lines waiting to cross could inhibit visitors. "We are having some discomfort, some criticism in terms of income from the United States", said Raquel Stabinsky.

As stated by some people who have gone through the new access way to Mexico, she agreed what is needed is signage, because once in Tijuana it is difficult to locate any of the four available bridges. "If it is promised they are only going to do so in 30 minutes maximum, people who cross will rely on them to come, but for the moment we will have to continue using improvisational situations", she said.

The new entry to Mexico with 22 Gates started operations on the first of this month but part of United States Highway 5 has not been connected to the necessary deviation on five lanes. Raquel Stabinsky said they are working with different areas of Government to make the necessary adjustments. "We hope that we will be able to solve this before it benefits us instead of harms us", said the Director of promoting trade and tourism. http://www.tijuanapress.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=8056:espera-en-qel-chaparralq-podria-ser-inhibidor-&catid=1:locales&Itemid=50
