Border News Translations: Wait Times; 1 Shot; Prisoners Wed

TIJUANA BC (Frontera, Ana Gómez Salcido, 5/27/11) - This morning there was a long wait at the Tijuana border crossing north into the United States at the San Ysidro gateway, according to the Internet site of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP for its acronym in English). At 9 a.m. at San Ysidro, there was a 1-hour and 58-minute wait in the car-crossing lane with 18-lines open and 1-hour at the pedestrian crossing with 14-lines. At the same time at the Otay gateway, there was a wait of 35 minutes in the automobile crossing with 8-lines and 40-minutes in the pedestrian crossing with 6-lines.

TIJUANA BC (En Linea Tijuana, 5/26/11) - One person was executed while in his vehicle in colonia Río Vista, confirmed the Attorney General of Justice of the State (PGR), specifying no persons are detained in relation to the murder. They said, at 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday there was report of a lifeless person in colonia Río Vista. Staff of the Public Prosecutor's Office went to the home at 2311 calle Río Conchos, between calles Río Cuale and Río Conchos where they saw on the right, a red Toyota pick up, with five holes in the driver's door apparently produced by a firearm. There also was the lifeless body of a man identified as César Ceja Alvarado, who also had holes, apparently from a firearm in various parts of his body. Ministerial officers collected 8-shell casings for a 9-mm weapon. An agent of the Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the remains transferred to the forensic medical service for a legal autopsy.

TIJUANA BC (En Linea Tijuana, 5/26/11) - A total of 24 inmates joined their lives this morning with their respective partners, as part of a campaign "Marriage group" carried out by the Secretariat of Public Security of the State (SSPE) through the State Penal System. At about 11 a.m. at the Center for Social Reintegration, a civil ceremony took place, which legally merged the lives of 24 inmates at the Center, with their respective spouses. This complies with established strategies within the SSPE Strategic Model of Social Reinsertion. The Assistant Secretary of the State penitentiary system, Jesús Héctor Grijalva Tapia congratulated the new spouses by taking this important step of marriage. “It is the beginning of forming a new family. It is the Union of their lives, to help them move forward in the way of reintegrating into society, and I hope they're happy.” Grijalva Tapia said, "The actions that the SSPE takes in prison are intended to dignify the conditions of the penitentiary system in Baja California, as well as to strengthen the programs and mechanisms of rehabilitation and social reintegration of inmates into society." Also during the event, registration was carried out for the birth to six minor children of inmates at the Center for Social Reintegration. This is another act in further reaching the prison population and their families. The civil ceremony was attended by family and friends of the group, who shared the important moment with each of the couples. "Despite being in a difficult situation and for the distance, it’s always good to know there are people waiting for you with longing", said one of the inmates who got married. In addition, the music group Cereso graced a celebration after the ceremony, during which they shared food with family and friends, while enjoying a healthy, fun atmosphere. Above all, they were with their loved ones.
