Border News Translations 21: In Three Area Crashes One is Dead, 18 are Injured

On April 17, 2011, El Mexicano, a baja and border daily reported on three Tijuana area accidents. In the first, a young man died Saturday morning after crashing his car at a trolley ramp in Azteca, near the Mount of Olives Pantheon. The identity of the deceased, who was driving a Chevrolet Astro Van, which front end was destroyed, is unknown. The driver’s body was trapped by the seat belt, according to Red Cross paramedics and was killed instantly because of the tremendous impact.

Nearby market employees said, he was driving at an excessive speed and lost control before crashing into a Ford Econoline van parked on the street. An agent of the Culposos injury and homicide unit of the public prosecutor's Office took note of the matter, but at the time of publication, the victim’s identity was still unknown.

In another crash, fifteen people with various injuries were taken to the Social Security Clinic 1 after a crash on Insurgents Boulevard in colonia La dam Rodríguez. Involved was an International Truck from B.C., driven by Charles Aaron Zamora Milan, 18, and a public service bus operated by Miguel Murillo Santana, 50. Witnesses agreed with the assessment of Directorate of police and transit officials, that Millán Zamora, who was driving recklessly and speeding was responsible for the crash.

The injured bus passengers are Tomás Morales Santiago, Juan Manuel Jiménez, José Luis Reyes Sanchez, Rodrigo Taizan Benítez, Araceli Guzman Barreto, Adrián Rodríguez Gallegos, Raquel Ramos Cruz, Concepcion Ruiz López, María Isabel Carrillo Chávez, Isela dew Brena, Melissa Valdez Ayala, Silvia Velázquez Torres, Read Solís Celaya, César Álvarez Taizan and Ramón Moreno Ocampo.

Also, in a third accident, a driver caused a plywood table to fall off his pickup truck causing injuries to three people, including a woman who was six months pregnant. The accident happened at the corner of Alba Red and Presents in colonia Sonora.

It happended around noon Friday and the suspect José Ángel Romero Pardo, 23, was arrested by Municipal police. Trying to drive around an obstacle with an unsecured load, a plywood table flew off the truck and fell onto José Armando Olguín Álvarez, Angelica Flowers Armendáriz and Eduardo Luján Olguín, who were knocked to the ground and sustained undisclosed injuries.
