"My Hood"

Born and raised here, in this, what use to be a small farming town....."Chula Vista". South Bay, Southerly Chula Vista to be exact. I returned back to my childhood home, where my Mother still lives and boy am I tripping out!. I lived across the street from "Castle Park High" my alma mater, how conveinent was that. A beautiful school at one time, but now when I am taking my daily walk (usually with my husky "koda") I look over at it, and my have times a changed. The parking lot that sits near the school use to fill up with cars, now, it fills up with fences inside of fences, some top secret thing apparently because the fence is enclosed with no peeking for the average passer byer.....kinda funny to see it coming to life. What's it going to be? Your guess is as good as mine...All you can see are several slanted steel posts peeking over the top of the secret fence. Then on the other side of the parking lot, we have another fenced area, big tall light posts coming out of that fence for what I suspect is street hockey, or parking lot hockey!. Anyway you look at it, it ain't the same from what I remember. As I continue on my walk, I see homes that my school buddies resided in, now I couldn't even tell you, who lives in these homes. I remember from 20 years back, houses that have now taken on a new coat of paint, people I don't recognize, and empty lots that once inhabited dirt, now houses several homes and people. My times have really changed. As a farmer's daughter, I recall nothing but fields and fields of vegetation my Grandfather and Father worked very hard at producing. It's so odd for me, to come back to a place that is now, overcrowded and overrun by a diverse crowd of businesses and people. Progress, can't fight it....but dam, now I understand the saying..."The Good Ole Days" !!!.
