President Obama is Stupidly

No, not because of the health care thing. Even though it's insane for him to think it will work (see Canada); his heart is in the right place.

I voted for Obama. And I probably would again.

There's nothing I hate more than discussing politics. The reason is that nobody listens to the other side. No Democrat ever agrees with anything a Republican does, and vice versa. It really is funny how politics enables common sense to go right out the window.

I found out this morning, that President Obama chimbed in on the police arresting Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr.

He said the officers acted "stupidly."

Really? Did they act as "stupidly" as he did by associating with Reverand Wright? And then when it came out how insane Wright was, Obama "stupidly" acted like he never heard any of those insane rants.

Okay, first, here's the story in case someone isn't familiar with it.

A Harvard scholar, well-respected man in the community (Gates)came back from a trip and couldn't get into his house. The door jammed and he went around back, before coming to the front and ramming his shoulder into it a few times.

A neighbor called police saying "Two black men with back-packs are breaking into a house."

The police show up and things get heated. Gates eventually shows ID, proving that he lives there. But he gets arrested for "disorderly conduct."

I then read in the New Yorker, some biased liberal piece of crap writing, about how the police are racist.

I listen to Whoopi Goldberg on The View say that she's not surprised by this, as African-Americans are always pulled over for "driving while black."

And now Obama decides to weigh in (in his defense, a reporter asked about it; he also admitted to being friends with Gates).

Yet, where Obama acted "stupidly" is when he said the cops acted "stupidly." He then says, "Once he shows ID, why is there a problem?"

Well....let me take a wild guess. Oh...because...maybe Mr. Gates was freaking out and yelling at cops!

My friend just told me this morning, "Well...we don't know the whole story."

But you really don't need to know the whole story. All you need to realize (if you have a brain), is that the cops get a burglary call. I'm assuming most burglary calls turn out to be something serious. It's not like a noise complaint call or a domestic dispute, which could turn out to be a loud TV that had yelling. If someone calls in a burglary, they probably have watched a person acting suspicious for a few minutes.

The police probably didn't pull up and nicely say "Excuse me, sir. Sorry to bother you on this fine day. You look like a fine, outstanding member of society. But, we got this call, and so we're investigating. Again, sorry to take up your time. But..."

No. The cops probably rolled up on this guy and said, "Get on the ground! Put your hands in the air, and get on your knees!!"

They may have even cursed. And, I'm guessing this type of attitude, got Gates all riled up. After all, he's at his own home. And, he probably thinks police do this to African-Americans all the time (which is really faulty logic to begin with).

Does Gates really think the cops were just driving around, saw a black man in his front lawn, and decided to harass him?

I have a friend whose dad is a retired police officer. He told me his first day working, he saw black guys carrying stereos and TV sets from a house. He figured it was a burglary and pulled over to ask what they were doing. They said they were moving, and showed ID. He talked to them for a few minutes, making light conversation about how horrible moving is, and how the guys should expect to get pizza and beer from their friend for helping him.

When he got back into his car, he wondered if they wondered, if he was questioning them because they were black. When the simple fact was...he saw people carrying things out of a house. And it was a Monday, when people don't normally move. It had nothing to do with race. But guess what? Nobody was arrested. Nobody was shot. And there were no problems. The people moving probably understood why the cop was questioning them, and they didn't get on some racial kick about it. Now, you might say to yourself "I'm white. I've moved a bunch of times. I've helped white friends move. And we've never been bothered by the police."

I just helped a black friend of mine move last week. And we weren't harassed by the police either. But you know why? Probably because a cop didn't drive by. And if one did, they probably saw the big U-Haul.

This professor probably thinks that everyone is out to get African-Americans. And so he freaked out.

I initially thought maybe this guy was right, because the police dropped the "disorderly conduct" charge. I wondered why they wouldn't charge the guy, if he was such a problem they felt the need to bring him in. But who knows. There are lots of reasons that could be.

But now Gates is demanding an apology. And, I think it should be the police that demand an apology. From him, and from Obama.

You see, making claims like this just sets race relations back 50 years. It divides people. And much like politics, we don't listen to the other side.

The people that read this blog are going to post that I'm some racist scum for believing the cops. And they won't even use what little common sense they have.

Because really...think about it. Let's say a cop is racist. And let's say a cop is also mean. Is he really going to just grab black guys that aren't breaking the law? I'm guessing he wouldn't risk his job doing that.

And when you start making accusations against cops and you play that ever popular race card...I have to wonder where and when it all ends.

Will Obama say the police are acting "stupidly" for going after Michael Jacksons black doctor?

Was the FCC acting "stupidly" by fining a black singer for showing her breast during a Super Bowl?

Will Obama say the police acted "stupidly" by jailing O.J. in Vegas, for some petty crime involving his own stuff he wanted back?
