Make yourself comfortable, but not too comfortable!

I am a proud North Parker who enjoys the independent minded community that I live in. There's nothing more refreshing than driving around North Park admiring the gardens, variety of homes, and the numerous small business owners. I personally love to hang out at the numerous cafes and restaurants that are located in North Park area and vicinity. One of my favorite cafes is Filter, specially now that the sidewalk area in front of it no longer longs like a scene from an Almodover film and the bathroom is no longer used as a cheap hotel room (thanks to the new owners). However, people tend to make themselves a little too comfortable for my taste when hanging out in cafes. Otherwise, take your feet off the table and don't sleep on the sofas. I personally don't like looking at toe jam while drinking my coffee or eating a snack. Nor do people want to listen to your heavy breathing or snoring while you are fast asleep. Besides that, it's not sanitary to plop your sandled feet, or tennis shoes for that matter, on a table that people place their food and drinks on. Besides that, don't you know that it's rude in most cultures to plop your feet on the table, whether it be a business or some one's home? Furthermore, give your seat up to some one else after sipping on one drink for three hours and studying, or at least invite some one to sit down at your table if there is room. Be social, that's what a cafe is meant to be, not a library. Stop acting like the relative or friend who never wants to leave and don't make people feel they need to whisper while their enjoying a good conversation with friends.

So keep it casual, but not piggy. Bring your laptop or book, but leave before your butt becomes too glued to the seat. It's a matter of common etiquette, not snobbiness.

Take care and enjoy your local North Park cafes.
