Complete Rundown of The San Diego Latino Film Festival's Opening Night Celebración!

Get ready for 11 jam-packed days and over 150 films: the San Diego Latino Film Festival kicks off it 19th year tonight.

Kudos to Ethan van Thillo and his staff for putting together another el supremo festival de cinema internacional. I've seen several of the films on the docket and can't wait to experience Pablo Larraín's Post Mortem on the big screen. (I beg you: put it in the #7 Hazard Center and stick the chick with the giant glasses in the booth for this one, okay?)

I can't make it tomorrow night when Post Mortem screens at 8:30 due to a scheduling conflict. AMC is opening a new PG-13 Eddie Murphy movie that's been sitting on the shelf for four years. Fortunately PM shows again at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday, March 18.

Michael DeLorenzo (A Few Good Men, New York Undercover) will be on hand as part of the Festival's series, Latinos on TV.

The merriment keeps on going long after the movies end at the Opening Night Party at Cafe Sevilla, 353 5th Ave. Tickets are $20 for party or $25 for party ticket plus one opening night film. Entrance includes one hosted drink.

The festival runs March 8 - 18 at the UltraStar Mission Valley Cinemas Hazard Center. General admission tickets are $10.00, and $8.00 for students, seniors, military and Media Arts Center members.

Festival passes are also available. Click for more information.

5:00 p.m.: El Premio

5:30 p.m.: Mamitas (Actor Jose Yenque will be there in person.)

6:00 p.m.: Hecho en U.S.A.

Luis R. Guzmán, Bruno Loza, and Jorge Salinas star in La Otra Familia.
