Colorado Man Dies in Multiplex Bathroom, Body Not Found for FIVE Days

Have you ever noticed a small clipboard hanging in the entryways of movie theatre lavatories? There is a checklist attached to the portable writing surface for theatre employees to initial while making their hourly bathroom rounds.

It took the crack staff at Colorado's Cinemark Fort Collins 16 five days to discover George DiGrazio's decaying corpse in one of their restroom stalls. The smell alone should have been an indication, but a quick look at what was playing at the time of DeGrazio's death (Tintin, Chipwrecked, New Year's Eve, War Horse, Muppets, The Devil Inside) indicates there was already a foul stench permeating the lobby. Cinematic Febreeze that it is, apparently the two daily 3D showings of Hugo were not enough to aerate the place.

George DiGrazio.

His family reported DeGrazio, 66, missing on January 10 after he was last seen the day before. It took cops three days to find DeGrazio's SUV in the movie theatre parking lot, and an additional couple of days to police the area before the body was finally discovered in a locked toilet stall. Larimer County Deputy Coroner James MacNaughton told the Associated Press that DeGrazio died of a heart attack. "It appears he was using the restroom facility and then fell over and died on the floor," MacNaughton said.

According to 9News, James Meredith, Cinemark's vice president for marketing and communication, said Tuesday, "DeGrazio was in a small family restroom that was locked from inside." Cinemark released a statement saying five employees are on leave while the company investigates.

One morbid question remains unanswered: what was DeGrazio's farewell feature?
