Food

Well, it happened again, a wonderful dining adventure. With the onset of Restaurant Week, a friend went with me to Marble Room on Monday. This was a different experience as it was a 3 course menu, instead of the "serve in waves". Again, the service was excellent and the food was absolutely great. My friend loved this place. Her sea bass was perfect as was my steak. Anyone who likes spinach needs to go in and try their creamed spinach gratin. It is scrumptious. We had dessert which consisted of two lollipops (pieces of banana dipped in an incredibly rich & wonderful dark chocolate) and two "finger food" portions of carrot cake, each. The cake is what my friend will be going back for as she said "it makes my mouth so happy". Later on I got a call from another friend who dined here last Friday, based on my blog. She loved it & already made plans to return. This is not your ordinary restaurant and the experience is worth the price. If you go in before 7 PM, you get in on their Happy Hour. The manager, Dave, was visible & available. When he wandered over to our table, we engaged him in a conversation about the seemingly lost art of customer service & other local restaurants. So, if you haven't filled in your restaurant week, wander over to the Marble Room. You will be glad you did.

I live in an apartment complex managed by ConAm. There had been some really shabby, filthy, stained carpeting in the hallways. Finally, several weeks ago, that carpet was removed. We have had bare, glue streaked, very ugly hallways for quite some time. I would guess that it has been more than 6 weeks. Allegedly they will be installing new, easier to clean, tile. WHEN?? No one seems to know. And, in addition to the crappy floors, we now have "measles" walls. Several weeks ago, painters came in to fill holes, etc., and then spray painted those spots. So we have splotchy walls to go with the gluey, ugly hallway floors. We pay plenty of rent and we should have presentable common areas. We can only hope that they actually do intend to put in flooring and paint the walls, soon.
