Reneging on refunds
I have lived in. "South Park" for 56 years. I live on the same street on which I was born. I'm a native San Diegan, the son of a native, and grandson of an native, I have seen our city devolve into something that would be unrecognizable to our forebearers. Outside interests and outside money have come into the city and taken over its entire leadership. GHMAD is just another example of how Government comes into our homes, makes unilateral decisions, based on special intertests, for the enrichment of a few, at the expense of the many, and touts it as good for us all. What a screw job! These people don't really consider this place their home, they just want to get what they can get and get out. I'm sick of the lies and subterfuge, and I really don't understand the apathy. Why a statute of limitations? Why a form to fill out? The City knows what was paid and what is owed. Pay back our money. Do the right thing! It's not that hard, if you really want to.— December 5, 2012 3:32 p.m.
Marco Li Mandri wants to get around Prop 13
I find it just a bit more than coincidental that none of these proposals to supposedly benefit the "community" ever seem to be mentioned, let alone explored in any kind of depth, on any major news outlet. If people were more readily made aware of these schemes, then perhaps it might be a little more difficult for schemers like Mr. Li Mandri and his minions on the city council to pick our pockets. Just wondering also why people such as Mr. Li Mandri and his ilk are given these forums to further their own interests under the banner of serving the greater good? As stated in an earlier post above, let these people sell their ideas to the public. That's not likely to happen, because they already know the public won't buy them, so the next step is to get the government to shove them down our throats. This can only work if the government has sold out to special interests and the people are kept uninformed.— April 26, 2012 9:15 a.m.
City Council Expected to Dissolve Golden Hill Maintenance Assessment District
Right on, nostalgic and madhatter! I have zero trust for the City, as they have proven themselves once again to be bought and paid for. Shysters one and all! Anyone who dares pose reasonable questions is dismissed and told to run along and play. Does anyone remember the commercial "it's my money and I want it NOW!"— April 7, 2012 5:08 p.m.
Judgment Finalized In Legal Battle Over Golden Hill Maintenance Assessment District
MADHATTER thanks for keeping us all informed. It appears justice has prevailed in this case, although in the face of much wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Greater Golden Hill Community Development Corporation and the City. I suppose it's too much to ask, since they illegally took my money (=stealing), that they give it back.— February 11, 2012 10:46 a.m.
The After-MAD in Golden Hill
"MAD's are very, very valuable tools," Gloria said." Valuable to whom, Councilman Gloria? Certainly not to me, as a homeowner and landlord. I haven't seen one benefit, outside being privileged to subsidize business owners and the City. If the City had behaved ethically at the start of this whole fiasco, MAD never would have gotten off the ground. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes to refund our money. Think I could get away with witholding the bogus business tax I have to pay every year for the privilege of renting (and maintaining) my duplex?— October 23, 2011 8:02 p.m.
Mad About Getting Rid of MAD
"The beneficial services you have come to expect...such as graffiti removal, refuse collection from public waste containers, tree maintenance, street and sidewalk cleanup and large litter removal, will come to an end unless you speak up," read the message from the Greater Golden Hill CDC..." What a flim-flam. I voted against this sham from the beginning and have NOT changed my mind, the only thing that has changed is my level of disgust and disappointment at the lies such as the one quoted above. I haven't received any beneficial services, unless you call the privilege of paying twice for services the City is obligated to provide as part of my property taxes a beneficial service. Shame, shame, shame!— October 14, 2011 2:27 p.m.
