Chula Vista Considers West-Side Apartment Complex
I agree that parking will be a nightmare for residents on nearby side streets. Day time parking is already an issue because of the court house across the street. They should consider a layer or two of below ground parking. I realize it is far more expensive however it will do much to relieve added street parking. I think the overall design of the project is good however I would like to see a larger set-back from the street. One of my big complaints about the Gateway project is that it was built too close to Hst & Third Ave.— April 5, 2012 10:17 a.m.
Goodrich Bought Out After Chula Vista Redevelopment Agency Relocates Company
Both my grandfathers worked at Rohr (post military careers) for a time in the early 1950's. My father worked at Rohr for 34 years beginning in 1958. His job allowed my parents to buy the home my mother still lives in which will go to my brother some day. I worked at Rohr for a few years myself in the late 80's and was a casualty of the downsizing that started shortly after the new building was built. A huge chunk of Chula Vista's growth can be directly attributed to Rohr.— September 29, 2011 9:47 a.m.
Not All Good for Cats and Dogs?
Any organization such as SDHS that refuses to actively work with rescue groups to place dogs or cats they deem unsuitable for adoption is living in the dark ages. I recently rescued and am fostering a dog labeled "aggresive"--slated to be PTS-- from an LA shelter and she has proven to be anything but! She is one of many that was given an unfair assessment and therefore a death sentence. There are many breeds that are misrepresented --given a bad rap-- whether Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Mastiffs, German Shepherds etc. It really comes down to the issue of owner responsibility. There are so many of these breeds in the shelters any group that is willing and able to devote time and resources should be welcomed with open arms and coorperation.— July 6, 2010 4:33 p.m.
