San Diego's backcountry fights wind turbines
Wind turbines might be annoying, but they do not cause cancer. The Reader has destroyed its credibility by printing such a poorly researched article. We need more wind farms, not less. Each wind turbine supplies enough electricity for about 1,000 houses, and it reduces our dependence on dirty power plants that burn coal or gas. Coal-burning power plants cause more than 10,000 deaths per year due to air pollution. Thanks to renewable energy, Ocotillo is one of the safest places in the United States to live with regards to power plants: http://www.catf.us/fossil/problems/power_plants/e…— August 26, 2013 9:01 p.m.
