Sweetwater’s Ed Brand Seeks to Remove Committee Members
Castle Park Middle is not and will not be in program improvement for a while.— October 19, 2012 9:30 p.m.
Sweetwater School Board Awards 2-Year Contract to Ed Brand
I have as much confidence in what the district has done as I do in that teachers union. Let's see who can earn more confidence from the public in the future, especially if Prop 30 and 38 pass. It will be interesting. Also, I do like and respect Lopez and the majority of the board members, the one's that have an extensive track record of success in the district. Hopefully, things can change.— September 26, 2012 9:37 p.m.
Sweetwater School Board Awards 2-Year Contract to Ed Brand
She was also voted in by teachers who are union extremists. Don't get me wrong. I think Bertha Lopez is an enthusiastic educator who is an asset to Sweetwater and wants the best for the community. At the same time, the bad teachers in the district who are still employed because the union protects them support her more than any other board member or other person in the district that makes decisions.— September 26, 2012 5:48 p.m.
Sweetwater Interim Superintendent Ed Brand Resigns
There might be a silver lining in this. If Brand's contract is $252 grand, which is a raise of $12 grand, he will be taxed much more if prop 30 passes. If fact he might actually be making less after taxes than he was before. Think about it. If one had a choice to give him $240 grand a year or $252 grand a year if prop 30 passes, wouldn't the latter be a better choice?— September 25, 2012 12:10 p.m.
Sweetwater Interim Superintendent Ed Brand Resigns
Please choose a superintendent that is for the students, the effective principals, and the teachers they favor, not a superintendent for the south bay teachers union.— September 24, 2012 6:04 p.m.
Chula Vista East Side's Mello-Roos Mess
How come no one sees how bad of a teachers union sea is? Curious. I'm not defending Brand of any of this other drama either.— September 20, 2012 10:16 p.m.
What The Heck is Going On at the Sweetwater Union High School District?
I wouldn't say the learning center is a dream job for all. It's a dream job for people who are unmotivated, lack passion, and are mentally weaker than most teachers. Anniej, the teachers union in south bay has backed teachers who have committed some very unethical acts that have been reported and are documented. These teachers are protected by the union, while the majority of the layed off teachers are or were more protected by their principals than the union itself. This is a fact. Like I said before, both parties are largely responsible for the mess that has effected education in south bay.— September 18, 2012 5:16 p.m.
What The Heck is Going On at the Sweetwater Union High School District?
No I don't know anything about this. I do know that layed off teachers aren't all back. Also, administrators are upset that they're getting set up with bad teachers that the union protects, several of them from the learning centers. Third and foremost, that the teachers union can care less about the teachers with less senority and just care about their own group that simpleton is referring to.— September 17, 2012 6:47 p.m.
What The Heck is Going On at the Sweetwater Union High School District?
Nikkivs, the REAL story that everyone is ignoring or forgetting, and that is affecting more in the community is in my post below. Thanks.— September 13, 2012 8:20 p.m.
What The Heck is Going On at the Sweetwater Union High School District?
There still dozens of dozens if not hundreds of teachers still layed off or not working full time in SUHSD. Talking to other people in school districts around the county, this is not happening in any other district I know of. Blame Brand and the teachers union. Yes, Gandara might have committed unlawful acts, but the district wasn't as much of a disaster then as it is now.— September 13, 2012 8:17 p.m.
