Where Chia Pets Came From
So if you can make pudding or a breakfast drink from chia seeds what can you do with a pet rock or mood ring?— December 30, 2011 9:18 p.m.
Fretful Fiasco
I am a big believer in taking responsibility for one's own actions and to not saying yes to anything thatyou really don't want to do, as long as you are willing to accept the consequences of your behavior. By acting thus, I don't resent other people and their choices.I find that I am much happier and so are the people close to me because I am a much pleasanter person to be around.— December 22, 2011 8:46 p.m.
The Accident: Part 1
I am sorry to hear about your father. It must be difficult to be so far from home and away from most of your family. I find words to be inadequate in trying to express my support at times like this. I know from your writings that you have a good relationship with your father and that you love each other. Speaking as a parent what we want most from our kids is for them to be happy. By being true to yourself and living the life you were meant to have is validation of a job well done. One of the hardest things to do is to exist in moment when everything important is beyond our control.Take gentle care of yourself. Just know that people care and want your father to get well and spend many more years with you.— November 1, 2011 9:09 p.m.
Frodo

"Pokémon"
If your dad likes a deal take him to the M hotel the next time you are in Las Vegas. The senior discount kicks in at age 50 with a player's card and the buffet not only as above average food, beer and wine are free. It's also the only hotel that I know of with a full pharmacy in the lobby.— October 14, 2009 8:02 p.m.
Receiving Bella
I hope that you never again have to watch your niece because of an emergency but in the event that you find yourself with a child and no way to entertain them the answer is goop. What is goop you may ask? It is simply cornstarch and water. It seems terribly messy and kids love it. However, it really is not messy. Cornstarch is an inert substance that does not harm anything. When it dries, you can simply vacuum it up. In a bowl, mix about 1/2 cup of cornstarch with approximately 2 cups water so that it feels like clay - not too powdery, not too wet. Now pick up this goop and squeeze it - it's crumbly. Hold it loosely - it oozes through your fingers. Knock on the mixture (inside the bowl) and you will find it feels hard. Put your finger slowly into it and...it is liquid. Its solid one minute, liquid the next. Magic! It has become non-Newtonian fluid, In other words a liquid that does not behave like a typical liquid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-Newtonian_fluid Ketchup is another non-Newtonian fluid. That is why when you shake the bottle it comes out all at once. Stick the child outside or in the shower or bathtub with a plastic bowl, add water and let them stir and play with this mixture to their hearts content. Remember it will dry and be easily swept/vacuumed up or rinsed down the drain. I guarantee you will have at least and hour of peace.— April 22, 2009 8:08 p.m.
