The Hip-Hop-Challenged SDMAs
Ummm...hate much? Sorry if cats don't get their names out or know how to market their stuff so that people actually know who you are...that's no one's fault but your own though. SDMAs aren't about who has the best music, or even who is most talented...it's a POPULARITY CONTEST. BECOME POPULAR and you'll win. Keep on hating on other people because they're marketed, and you'll stay where you are. Here's a novel idea though...come up with your own SD Hip-Hop Awards. It's not hard to get donations and sponsors. You just have to actually WORK at it. Ever wonder why the most talented emcees never win Grammy Awards? It's the same story. It's nothing new or shocking. Most people that aren't immersed completely into the local hip-hop culture couldn't tell you who Mitchy Slick or BLAME ONE even are. Not hating on their music, but there's probably a reason they don't win.— September 9, 2009 5:27 p.m.
Talmadge: A Place to Tailgate
Nice photoshopped picture with the article. That's pretty lame to do that...it gives a false impression of the actual events. There is no spot on Hoover's campus with that much parking. I suggest you correct the photo and stop trying to sway public perception against Hoover High, as you have done in many of the other articles dealing with the field renovations.— July 24, 2009 7:01 p.m.
Friday Night Lights
Bunch of NIMBYs. YOU moved into the SCHOOL'S neighborhood...NOT the other way around. That school has been there since the 1930s...and it USED to have lights. Don't like what comes with living near a high school? Don't buy a house next to one. Simple.— January 19, 2009 5:17 p.m.
Hoover High Towers
Wow...grow up people! 1. YOU moved into a neighborhood with a high school. 2. The school has been there since the 1930s. Hard to be a NIMBY when you are in the school's backyard, and not vice-versa! 3. When you buy a home near a high school, there are certain things you should expect. Occasional night-time sporting events would be one of them. Additional noise & trash would be another. Get over it. 4. The school USED TO HAVE LIGHTS, but got rid of them back in the 1980s (as far as I understand the history). 5. When the school wants to have night games now, they have to rent gas-powered lights which are noisy & stink up everything with fumes. (and they're expensive) 6. The website of these NIMBYs tries to paint Hoover High as a blight on the neighborhood! You people are ridiculous! The school is one of the FEW bright spots in that area! 7. If anything, additional lighting in the area would be a GOOD THING. Property crime would likely go down due to increased foot traffic (witnesses?) and light. Seriously...people like this are the reason I'm starting to hate San Diego. I'm a native here, but am seriously getting sick of jerks that try to ruin things for everyone else because it doesn't fit with their narrow view of what life should be like. YOU LIVE NEXT TO A FRIGGIN' HIGH SCHOOL! Did you NOT KNOW THAT when you bought your overpriced houses???— December 30, 2008 11:28 a.m.
