FM 94/9 Out of the Sahara
Rick Jackson pretty much summed up his contempt for 94/9 and it's listeners. Look, if you want to run a radio station your way, buy one, make it an all talk station (because San Diego needs more of those) and put Mikey on that station. The people that listen to Mikey are the ones who listened to him on his old station...not really 94/9 listeners themselves. When Mikey was on 105.3, he was making more than half a million annual salary. That's a pretty good paycheck for a guy who is a dull teatotaller who veers off the topic all the time to tell us something we could care less about. If 94/9 had problems paying it's bills, maybe production of a morning show was not the way to go. The way I see it, the station had to have been kinda low overhead before they added talk. If you can't run in the black, you have a worthless marketing department. As a former avid 94/9 listener, I can tell you that most people who listen to the station were not happy that Halloran got fired days before they announced the hiring of Mikey. We can read between the lines, they robbed peter to pay paul. They fired a true radio talent to hire a hack. An absolute hack.— January 13, 2011 11:17 a.m.

Is there any way at all to end the publishing of this ridiculous theological argument about Calvinism? Who cares? I see these stupid letters arguing about a phony God and think to myself "Wow, here's a great section to line a birdcage with".— September 16, 2010 4:46 p.m.

I find it completely repellant how closed minded people are. Sure, I don't like the garments like a lot of you, but if you read the article, you find that a lot of these women choose to wear what they do. Hence the options. I honestly can't believe the Reader allowed some of the ridiculous negative comments to go to print. If you want to make comments on someone's facebook, go ahead, but don't make facebook comments in the Reader letters section.— September 16, 2010 4:40 p.m.
Does the D in Prop D stand for "Dash for Cash"?
I find it absolutely ridiculous that people would rather the disease spread than treat it because you are worried that the patient might use the money to score Oxycontin. People in this town lack trust and it is really sad that we can't seem to get that cutting things from the annual budget won't fix anything anymore. As the city gets larger, we want to cut services, but we don't want to pay for anything we still get....like free trash pick up? We may have to cut that eventually too. And as anyone who lives in the outlying cities of San Diego can tell you, sometimes people stop paying and that stuff just piles up. It can get ugly, man...real ugly. We may not like exactly where ALL of our tax money goes, but understand the first things on the chopping block are never going to be those things, but rather the things we need like timely emergency response. I will vote yes on D..not because I'm stupid but because we need an actual fix and not paying anything more and cutting services still does little to create positive revenue.— September 16, 2010 8:09 a.m.
A rollover truck on Pamo Road in Ramona
Although I agree with most of the story written by Ms. Thrasher, I did have a few issues with some of the missing and important pieces. I feel sorry for your loss, very much so. I have yet to know what such a loss could possibly feel like. The issue I have with the story is that very little was said about her daughter and what she knew of her reputation at school. Nobody deserves to die for wanting to have some fun, but to paint your daughter as an innocent, is not really telling us everything. Having said that, I know exactly what it can be like when the local police be it the sheriff or whomever, can seem to protect the person totally in the wrong. Why didn't the police investigate any of this? Why was a 26 yr old man not responsible for a minor taking off her seat belt? When Joe Blow citizen gets pulled over, we are responsible and nobody has died in those situations. I also have a problem with the local Ramona law enforcement's desire to protect Doug Garcia. Why do cops always seem to only believe the first story and not the whole story? Is Doug Garcia's family a big deal in Ramona? Why did law enforcement look the other way on all of the stories of underage girls he had dated? Dude, not only do you have a possible manslaughter charge go unpunished, but the possible possession of controlled substances AND statutory rape charges. Sounds to me like typical Ramona "Towny" b.s. Furthermore, the icing on the cake is when Mr. Garcia pays someone to serve the restraining order on the anniversary of Staci's daughter's death. What? Dude, Doug Garcia, do you know what Karma is? That's the most horrible thing I have ever heard of.— June 9, 2008 6:49 a.m.
