Nessy Burger Relocates

A North County icon disappeared for a short time on Saturday, April 7. Named after the Loch Ness Monster, Nessy Burger has been around since 1989, contained in a little roadside trailer on the west side of I-15 at Highway 76 in Fallbrook. Workers begin preparing to remove the trailer, tables, and refrigerated storage containers earlier in the morning, reportedly to make way for the widening project on Highway 76, from I-15, west through Bonsall. The trailer was towed away around 3:00 p.m.

The highly acclaimed hamburger stand always has served as a haunt for local customers, as well as a fast-food stop for travelers between Riverside and San Diego counties. The restaurant is best known for its hand-shaped, ½-pound, fresh-ground beef patties. There was usually a line.

Later in the afternoon, the Pala Mesa Market, just around the corner from the old Nessy's site, on Old Highway 395, revealed that the trailer has been moved to their property, and that Nessy Burger will re-open in about a week. Sandy, a clerk at the market, said Nessy's will join several other food offerings on the property, including a taco stand. They hope to capitalize on more space bringing more customers to Nessy's, with the coming of Palomar College's satellite campus being built just across the freeway on the east side of I-15, along with 850 new homes.
