San Diego's Record-Release Roundup

Gayle Skidmore’s CD-release show for Make Believe happens November 13 at the Ruby Room. “I played over a dozen instruments on the album and took over a year and a half to record it,” reports the indie-acoustic songstress. “We’ve had over 1100 pre-orders so far!”

November 14, Miff Laracy & Bumbershoot play an album-release party at O’Connell’s with the Shamey Jays and Deborah Blake on the bill.

Indie-pop quartet Echo Revolution celebrate their fourth studio CD, Counterfeit Sunshine, on November 18, with a record-release gig at Eleven in City Heights (formerly the Radio Room).

Gritty garage-rockers New Mexico (formerly Apes of Wrath) have a new EP called Have You Met My Friend? that debuts with a November 20 release party at Tin Can Ale House.

Lindsay White’s new album, Tracks, pays tribute to her favorite artist and album, Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks. “I’m obsessed with the imagery of trains and train tracks as a metaphor for life,” she says.

Superdoo singer Christopher Dale just dropped Songs I Know the Words To, which includes a cover of the Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated” performed on ukulele.

Hip-hop family man Blame One, who announced his retirement from music last year, has changed his mind to put out a new full-length, Endurance.

Jason Robinson has two new albums: Cerberus Reigning is the second in a trilogy of Robinson’s conceptual solo-saxophone records featuring electroacoustic pieces that “tell the story” of an otherworldly three-belled saxophone; The Two Faces of Janus includes contributions from jazz and improv mainstays Rudresh Mahanthappa, Marty Ehrlich, Liberty Ellman, and George Schuller.

Other locals with new music out or on its way include Pigeon John with Dragon Slayer, Folding Mr. Lincoln’s Live at Old Time Music, a debut full-length from Roxy Jones called Lullabies and Warcries, Mrs. Magician with debut seven-inch “There Is No God,” spook-rock duo Raw Moans with a double-disc dubbed We Want It Beautiful Not Real/RW RMX, and Michael Tiernan with his fourth studio album, L.A. Can Wait.

Over the next few weeks, expect new offerings from the jazzy Wayne Riker Quintet (Penumbral Sky), the aptly named Willie Psycho (The Predator), tender troubadour Simeon Flick (Piquant), the reunited Fab Rudies (Help Me), and a rarities collection from reunited punks the Cardiac Kidz, now featuring former Wallflowers front man David Rinck on second guitar.
