Autumn in Vancouver

Autumn is an ideal time to visit Vancouver, British Columbia, when the foliage is particularly vibrant. A sophisticated city with a mix of gardens and woodlands, Vancouver can be described as temperate rainforest within a metropolis.

At Burrard Inlet, watch float planes taking off and landing, cruise ships arriving and departing in the summer, and sailboats, kayaking, windsurfing, water skiing and jet skiing year-round. Some of the city's best dine-with-a-view restaurants can be found bayside.

English Bay, near the city’s West End district, is popular for jogging, biking and skating, and streets are lined with bookstores, souvenir shops and other specialty retailers.

Stanley Park sits in the heart of Vancouver and features dozens of attractions on its 1,000 acres – the Vancouver Aquarium, Seawall, Children's Farm Yard, Miniature Railway and Theatre Under the Stars, to name a few. The park also offers a panoramic view of the city from the Lion’s Gate Bridge.

Granville Island is five minutes from downtown. Cafes, pubs and restaurants with outdoor seating and an inviting view of Vancouver’s waterfront are the best place to spend your leisure time. The island is also home to the Emily Carr Institute of Art, Kids’ Market, Maritime Market and Granville Island Brewery.

And from Vancouver, you’re only 75 miles from Whistler, one of the most spectacular ski resorts in the world and home to the 2010 Winter Olympics.
