Jack Lemmon said it: Bernard Slade's comedy drama was his favorite to perform. And that "Scottie and I are one." Scottie Templeton's a lifelong Peter Pan so eager to please he "built his whole career on charm." Faced with lukemia, he must confront his irresponsible past and estranged son. I might have caught the Sullivan Players on an off-night. The acting beamed on and off, some scenes sparked, others lagged (revealing Slade's at times stock dialogue in the process). As Scottie, Michael Bova played the ending with emotional truth, but raced through the first act with few dynamics or emphases. Dori Salois, Joshua Jones, Marc Biagi, and Ka'lmi Kuhoa had some nice moments, but the production as a whole rarely came together.
