Dog Day Afternoon and Hospitali-Tea
Come and join the San Diego-Edinburgh (Scotland) Sister City Society and Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation for an afternoon of elbow grease and Scottish hospitality, as we clean the bronze sculptures of Greyfriars Bobby and Bum-the-Dog. Enjoy traditional Scottish refreshments and take a walking tour of Bum's favorite haunts from nearly one and a quarter centuries ago.
The festivities begin at 2pm at Fourth and Island in the Gaslamp where we will meet in the pocket park for a quick spring cleaning of the dog sculptures and hear stories of Bum and Bobbies special lives. We'll update you on the San Diego-Edinburgh (Scotland) Sister City Society’s current plans to re-locate the statue of Bum in Edinburgh and plans for the Highland Games and other activities! After enjoying some traditional Scottish refreshments join us on a walking tour themed to Bum’s life in San Diego! Donations to the GQHF will be cheerfully accepted, although there's no charge for the afternoon's festivities or tour. Parking is on street (free at meters on Sunday), or in parking garages (paid parking) at 6th and K or 6th and Market Streets. Rain will not cancel; bring an umbrella for the walk and refreshments will be served indoors. Dogs welcome.
