Frontier San Diego’s Rancho Period was full of shoot-outs, saloons, sporting ladies, and fandangos, all derived from the region’s first industry: the hide and tallow trade.
Explore life on the frontier and learn the history of some recognizable ranchos today, including Rancho Peñasquitos, Rancho Guajome, Rancho Santa Margarita y Las Flores (Camp Pendleton), Rancho El Cajon, Rancho Los Coches, Rancho San Diego, and more.
