Exotic World and the Burlesque Revival
1100 Market Street, San Diego, 92101
"The movie was filmed between 2003 and 2006ish, during the time I was enrolled in graduate school and deeply involved in (and spending my student loan money on) trying to help save the then-struggling Exotic World Burlesque Museum in Helendale, CA," says local bassist Jaye MacAskill (Pony Death Ride).
"I was lucky enough that there was a group of dedicated film makers from Chicago, the Sissy Butch Brothers, there to document this crazy time in my life and to eventually share with the world the incredible story of the Exotic World Ranch and its significant role in the emergence of the contemporary burlesque revival movement, which some consider to be the biggest women's movement since the 1960s."
