Philharmonia/Symphony Orchestra
For the Philharmonia/Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition Final, the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory's (SDYS) talented finalists will compete to win the prestigious award of Concerto Competition Winner.
This annual Concerto Competition presents the chance for SDYS students to strive for excellence. These young musicians, from the youth symphony's advanced ensembles, Philharmonia and Symphony Orchestra, perform some of the most challenging concerto pieces ever composed. Each year the winner is awarded the opportunity to take center stage as the soloist at Copley Symphony Hall at SDYS' Winter Ovation Concert on February 15, 2014. In addition, finalists are competing for over $2,000 awarded by Advocates for Classical Music, with the winner receiving a $1,000 music scholarship.
