Jory Herman and Friends
The 2013 Fall Concert Series of the City of San Diego Public Library is launching a spectacular year of performances to celebrate the new Central Library.
The December 1 event features Jory Herman and Friends (Art of Élan members Kate Hatmaker, violin, San Diego Symphony; Alex Greenbaum, cello, The Knights; Jory Herman, bass, San Diego Symphony). They will perform music from Herman’s new CD of the J. S. Bach solo cello suites nos. 1-3, transcribed for bass.
The remainder of the Fall series features prominent local musicians, including Bach Collegium San Diego, Hausmann Quartet with soprano Ann Moss, San Diego Master Chorale, San Diego Children’s Choir, and Camarada Trio.
The Library began its Chamber Music Series in the mid-1950s. Critical and popular response encouraged the Library to increase the scope of the series into its present status of a Fall Concert Series and a Winter/Spring Concert Series. These series are made possible by the Friends of Central Library, the San Diego Public Library matching fund program, and public and private donations.
